While some researchers maintain U.S. obesity levels have peaked at 34% of the adult population a team of Harvard University researchers made a more dire assessment, projecting a slow but steady increase to 42% over the next four decades. TrekDesk CEO, Steve Bordley argues a U.S. "Movement Revolution" would instead witness a drastic reduction in obesity rates and health related issues.

The Harvard announcement is based on a 2007 study from the university led by Nicholas Christakis who made the observation that obesity's rise manifests similarities to infectious diseases in a community and if your immediate social circle contained an obese person the odds of obesity increased by 50%.

"What this study shows is that sedentary lifestyles and poor dietary habits spread through social circles and work environments through shared habits and reinforcement," stated Bordley. "The positive slant on this study is that a "Movement Revolution" could also spread rapidly and reverse this trend of obesity to levels not seen since the 1960's when obesity rates in the U.S. were 1/3 of the current levels."

Bordley's goal of launching a "Movement Revolution" and re-introducing continual daily movement into the nation's workplaces and schools centers on providing education and tools that integrate movement into current lifestyles rather than trying to change the lifestyle.

"While you may not be able to convince your child that video games place them on a path of ill health, placing the video controls onto a TrekDesk treadmill desk allows them to continue their passion and get the exercise they need to be healthy. This holds true for almost any sedentary activity whether at the home or the office," stated Bordley.
