Can A Treadmill Desk Prevent Cognitive Decline?
Recent studies reported at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in Vancouver, Canada revealed a significant correlation between walking ability and mental function. The challenge for many individuals is finding time to walk during the day. TrekDesk Treadmill Desks allow an individual the opportunity to maintain walking regimens through out the day without leaving the office.
These new studies showed some surprising results including the following:
1. Walking cadence or rhythm had a direct correlation with the ability to process information.
2. Walking speed and variations were directly associated with the mental processes necessary for planning and organization.
3. Increases in mental decline were associated with declines in walking speed and capacity.
“It is important to note that while these studies have shown that the important relationship between cognitive declines and detected walking deficiencies the opposite side of the argument is that increases in activity levels have been shown to decrease or reverse cognitive decline,” stated Steve Bordley, CEO of TrekDesk Treadmill Desk. “Walking has been shown to increase cognitive abilities in young and old alike. The challenge is getting individuals to walk enough during the day to reap the cognitive benefits. TrekDesk treadmill desks were designed to do just that.”
Designed to fit any existing treadmill, TrekDesk treadmill desk is an affordable, full sized, height adjustable workstation that allows individuals the opportunity to gain the necessary amount of exercise daily to maintain health, prevent disease, strengthen muscles, boost mood and productivity, without requiring additional time during the day or extra motivation.
