Phlebitis means inflammation of a vein and may be caused by a variety of factors. This inflammation may increase the likelihood of developing life threatening blood clots.

Specific factors which may lead to the contraction of phlebitis are sedentary lifestyles and work practices, obesity, smoking, injury, varicose veins, and pregnancy, Sitting at an office desk for eight to ten hours a day may lead to the contraction of this disease.

Daily walking is a major preventative measure to assist in the prevention of phlebitis. Also daily walking increases the blood flow in your body reducing the chances of developing blood clots.

Bear in mind that phlebitis may develop into a very serious health concern. If you suspect that you have phlebitis it is best to first consult with your physician before embarking on any increases in physical activity or self cure.

There is no doubt however that daily walking with a treadmill desk at work will assist in preventing phlebitis from occurring in the first place.
